Dumped

A man undergoes profound psychological changes as a result of isolation, physical pain, and emotional distress. Unfettered by the distractions of everyday life in the city, his mind is left to ferment the negative into more than was ever intended, capable of actions far beyond his perceptions. Ultimately, only a mirror of his brutality will bring his conscience to bear.

It is fiction. It is novel. So why did it wrench my emotions, stir sensations, cause me to take a ‘helicopter ride’ to distance me so I could rationalize perspective. I thought, I thought about, I related, I wondered, I reflected.

This is a love story with a twist – many twists. I was too caught up in the fiction to even wonder if the author was playing with my mind and emotions. Is that not what good writing is supposed to be? And the love story is not what you think it is.

I am so jealous. Beyond the three-quarter mark, the contents of that container!!!!!!!!!!

My heart went out to Louise. I did not like Luke from the beginning. I was right. Louie – I wonder what an unconditioned mind perceives of the world. I know how young hatch-ling chicks take and bond to their first human contact. Not sure about Mark. He seemed staid, aloof, smart, ingenious, innovative, calculating. Boy, I never wish to incur his wrath yet I respect his atonement ways. He seemed a strategic thinker.

I felt the sun and salt water burn my skin. I know what it is to be hungry but not like that. A paradise that can be hell and paradise again all at the same time. Loneliness may bother me but being alone may not as much. What a way to escape from the connected world – especially when it can be so intrusive with modern communications. Seeing clear starry skies at night and the full might of stormy weather passing through. Feeling cold even on a tropical island.

Josef Peeters writes in a way that the story tugs at you without permission yet the mind of the reader opens the door! A novel to reflect with and by! Happy journeying to all who take the time to read Dumped – it is an inner and outer experience.

What an amazing ride from start to finish, many twists and turns and a good insight into human behaviour under stress. Look forward to the next book
